NCE manufactures several products for circuit protection.

Circuit Protection Devices

These devices will not work with analog (direct current).

EB1 Electronic Circuit Breaker

  • Short circuit protection for a single power district. Can be used with any DCC system rated at 3 to 10A.
    • This is not low enough for use with the Power Cab.

Updated Version EB1 V1.1

This version will work with the NCE Power Cab.

Features

  • Adjustable trip current
    • 1.5 to 8 A
    • Response time is adjustable
    • Power up response is adjustable, to prevent nuisance trips caused by inrush current from multifunction decoders with sound
  • No soldering. Connections via terminal blocks
  • Status LED, with connections for a remote LED
  • Manual Reset, optional

EB3

  • Similar to the EB1, this unit protects up to three power districts
  • Fixed trip current points
  • 2, 3 and 4A
  • Response time is adjustable
    • Power up response is adjustable, to prevent nuisance trips caused by inrush current from multifunction decoders with sound
  • Status LED
  • Opto-isolated outputs for signals or control panel indicators

CP6 Circuit Protector

This device is for use with the Power Cab Only!

  • Circuit protection for up to 6 power districts on your railroad.
    • Note: this is a current limiting device, not a circuit breaker.
  • Prevents the Power Cab from rebooting

Applications

  • Power Cab
    • CP6 only
    • Power Cab does not have enough current output to work properly with an EB3
  • SB3 and DCC Twin
    • CP6 or EB1
  • SB3a, SB5 and Power Pro
    • These systems feature a 5A booster, which can use the CP6 or EB1
      • Includes a Power Cab when used with an external booster
  • EB1 v1.1
    • Can be used with a Power Cab
