Basic AC power supply using a Hammond 166P18 transformer. Note the fuse! It is there to protect expensive electronics.
The booster is connected at the terminal block, which is supplied by the secondary windings. The secondary circuit is fused for protection. Everything you see can be purchased at any electronics supplier. Except the plywood base everything is mounted to.
Check your manuals to determine the correct input voltage for your boosters. The transformer shown is a Hammond 166P18, rated to supply 18VAC, center tapped, at 5A. This is appropriate for a Digitrax booster. (Check your manuals first!) The transformer is the most expensive part, as it is made in Canada. Check Hammond's website for more transformers.
The secondary is center tapped, indicated by the wire with the stripe. It is terminated at the terminal block, with no application at this time. The booster is connected via the terminal block. A 5A fuse is installed to prevent damage should the booster become overloaded or a short develops.
