What Is It?

From no longer existing website: The DCC Pocket Tester is the ultimate piece of test equipment which tests the DCC Signal from an electrical perspective, a protocol perspective, and a data content perspective. This allows you to verify signal timing, voltage levels and other Electrical Tests. Then verify packet protocol adherence, preamble bits, checksum errors, packet timing, packet update rate, and gaps between packets. The DCC Pocket Tester also lets you monitor address utilization, broadcast counts, and watch how many of what addresses are used. Finally the actual mobile and accessory data packets themselves can be monitored, captured, decoded, and viewed. All from the palm of your hand. No PC, No Oscilloscope, No Batteries.

Features

It tests the DCC Signal from an electrical, protocol and data content perspective. This allows verification of signal timing, voltages and other electrical parameters.

It can then verify packet protocol adherence, preamble bits, checksum errors, packet timing, packet update rate, and gaps between packets. The DCC Pocket Tester also monitors address utilization, broadcast counts, and how many addresses (and types) are used. Mobile and accessory data packets can be monitored, captured, decoded, and viewed.

If you are having problems, this device will probably find them.

Communications

The Pricom DCC tester also has an RS232 port to connect it to a computer running a terminal program. It also can interact with JMRI software. Connecting it to a computer gives you even more options.
