Working with others
This page is an official policy on DCCWiki. It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that all users should follow. Feel free to update the page as needed, but make sure that changes you make to this policy really do reflect consensus, before you make them.

Please follow these naming standards when creating new articles, groups, and lists.

General

Topics such as throttle, booster, command stations are all non-vendor specific. Just name the something that describes the topic. Such as Introduction to DCC, Digitrax, and Manufacturers List.

The same applies to catagories. Topics about boosters should go in the [[Category:boosters]] boosters.

Only the first letter should be capitalized. All other words should be lower case. This makes linking to pages easier to remember (is "The capitalized on??"). Of course, anacronyms should be uppercase.

Vender Specific

Vendor specific items should be created using the various Help:Forms. Do not create any pages for vendor products unless there is a form for it. If you need to create an article for a new type of product, please leave a comment at Help talk:Forms/

Scale specific

Articles relating to a certain scale should be labeled in article title. Such as "Scale HO: Track cleaning", or "Cleaning HO tracks". However, if the topic is about cleaning for all track sizes, then "Track cleaning" is appropiate; with links to scale specific articles. This allows HO specific items in HO page, and G scale items on a G scale track cleaning page. Besure to search the DCCWiki before adding new pages. Also, if a general topic exists, and you are writing for a specific scale, besure to add your pages to the "See Also" section of the general page. For instance, you would add a link to "Cleaning HO tracks" to the "Track cleaning" article.

Of course, it goes without saying, that a category link should be included. Such as [[Category:Track Cleaning]], or [[Category:HO Scale Track Cleaning]].
