Most of these should be applicable to the DCS50 and DCS52 models.
Selecting a Locomotive or Consist
- Press the LOCO key (Display will flash)
- Enter the address of the locomotive or consist
- For a consist, the address will normally be the lead locomotive
- For a three digit locomotive number, use a zero (0) for the first digit[1]
- Press LOCO (Display will stop blinking)
- Move the brake lever to Forward or Reverse
- Move the throttle until train moves
Dispatching (Releasing) a Locomotive or Consist
- Move the brake lever to the BRAKE position (middle)
- Press LOCO key
- Press EXIT key
Stealing a Locomotive or Consist

- Press the LOCO key (Display will flash)
- Enter the address of the locomotive or consist
- Press LOCO key again (Display will flash StLo)
- Press LOCO key for a third time
- NOTE: Two throttles now control the train; Determine which throttle should be running it and dispatch the locomotive from the other throttle
Building a Consist
- Ensure both locomotives are traveling the same direction.
- Acquire the locomotive which will be the Master or Top (lead loco, a sound equipped loco should be the master if available)
- Press the MU key (a blinking dot appears under MU in the display)
- Enter the address of the second locomotive
- Press the t + key (address reverts Master/Top)
- Repeat steps 3 – 5 to add additional locomotives
Breaking an MU consist
- Press the LOCO key
- Enter the address of the locomotive to be removed from the consist
- Press LOCO key again
- Press MU key (the dot under MU will blink)
- Press the c – key
- ↑ If locomotive number is greater than 127, the leading zero is required.
